Sunshine State of Mind + Hello Dobson

Happy Friday pretty friends! Today’s post is going to talk about positivity. Doubt kills far more dreams than failure ever does! Let that phrase just sink in for a moment. To me, doubt is an easy place to escape to and often I have to […]

Mother’s Day Blessings

Mother’s Day Blessings

Happy Mother’s Day sweet friends!

I hope everyone is having a blessed day with their sweet mamas. I know today and everyday, I am beyond thankful for my mom and all she does for me. I am fortunate enough to work alongside my mom, and I couldn’t think a better person to have as a role model now that I have entered into motherhood.

Today is a special day for me. It is my very first Mother’s Day. Well, technically, I count last year since Henry was baking in my belly ;)….but this year is extremely special. Ya’ll, being a mom is the biggest blessing God has ever given me. I wish I could put into words how much being a mom has challenged me, strengthened me, and most importantly changed me. Today I thought I would share how I have grown as a person since becoming a mom and my top 5 promises I made for Henry this Mother’s Day.

If you would have told me having a child would have impacted or changed me this much, I would have thought you were crazy. Yes, everyone says your lives change when you have kids, but I did not think to this extent. Becoming a mom has opened up my eyes to a love that is so pure and so strong. To think God had a plan and blessed me with this precious boy just fills my eyes with the happiest of tears. The moment I looked into Henry’s eyes, it was a new beginning. A new beginning and a new chapter of this precious life. It made me completely re-evaluate what is important in life and to take a step back and move forward in a direction that was best for him and our family. Being a mom is putting someone else’s happiness and well-being before your own. That may sound easy, but it is extremely hard. I have been challenged in ways I have never experienced before, but I would not change a single thing. I absolutely love my new normal and my new life, which I like to call a beautiful mess. I used to think that life had to be perfect- dressed to the tens, hair done…makeup done, going to nice places, but its not. Life is far from perfect and I absolutely love it that way. The new normal consists of running late (even though we plan to leave early), spit ups in public, getting peed on, continuous blow outs, buying a new outfit because we forgot to pack an extra, going to dinner for the early bird special, new adult bed times, trading in my car for what I call my “school bus” because we need ALL the room we can get, taking half a day to go to the grocery store….the list could go on, but you know what….I love this beautiful mess because it is MY mess. MY mess that God has blessed me to take care of, love unconditionally, and do everything in my power to grow this little boy into an honorable and kind young man.

Top 5 Promises for Henry

1. I have tried and failed at many things in my life, but I promise I will NEVER stop giving 100% to be the best mom that I can be for you.

2. I promise to have patience with you and never judge, always leading by example.

3. I promise to be there when you need me, listen when you need me to listen, and be still when you just need my presence.

4. I promise to always instill in you life lessons to help you grow and learn every step of the way.

5. Lastly and most importantly, I promise to love you every moment of everyday and teach you about our loving Heavenly Father, growing up in a house that serves the Lord.

“Being a young mom means we met a little early, but it also means I get to love you a little Longer”

Take a moment today and recognize yourself for how amazing you are. All us mamas need to stick together and continue building each other up and growing alongside one another to be the best we can be for our children. Today, I celebrate you!

Lauren James is my {Main Squeeze}

Happy Monday Babes!

Gosh, I apologize that I have been MIA….this mama has been so sick and I just could not seem to get everything done. When the doctor tells you that you have a sinus infection and early stages of bronchitis, it is never fun. Luckily, I have been on antibiotics for 4 days and slowly getting better. I always come back to the NyQuil commercial where they say, “Mama’s don’t get sick days”, and that could not be more accurate. I totally take for granted all those times that I could actually rest when I was sick. So here is to another day of taking my medicine and napping or at least trying to when Henry does so I can fight these icky germs off for good 😉

It is to no surprise that Lauren James is in fact my main squeeze because I am in love with all of her stuff. Her line started off with preppy t shirts and has evolved into a southern preppy woman’s dream closet 🙂 For instance, can we just talk about how adorable this dress is. It just screams spring and summer. This dress comes in several prints, but this specific print is called “Main Squeeze”. It comes in several different options, including another dress and two other tops.

The fit is true to size, if not a little roomy. I am wearing a size Small for reference. I love how flowy the dress is and the cross detail in the back. This dress is perfect for any spring or summer party, date night, girls night out, backyard bbq, you name it!

I am linking below my favorites in her summer collection, as well as, ALL of my outfit details! You can also find all of my daily outfits and outfit details by following me on the Liketoknowit App. All you have to do is download the Liketoknowit app and search for “ruffledwithgrace” and hit follow. Easy peasy, lemon squeezey 😉

I am off to go teach Pure Barre. I am so excited to get back on the mic after being out for a few days. Now, if only I felt good enough to workout. But, rest is the best medicine right?! There is always tomorrow…. which this mama can only hope that I will be rested up to get back to my workout routine then.

Ashley

Goals for Blogging + Caroline Dawn

Goals for Blogging + Caroline Dawn

Happy Monday pretties! I am feeling so energized after this weekend and I am so excited to share why. Who else loves community?! Community is a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. Community is something that everyone needs and something we crave. However, with life, jobs, various circumstances, it may be hard to go after and achieve that overall community in your life.

To be completely honest, since I had Henry, all of my energy was devoted to him. Whatever was left went to grow my businesses, fuel my family, and then whatever was left after that, which wasn’t much, was for others. God created us to love people, to get involved with others, form lasting relationships, and devote time and energy into those people to help shape and mold them, as they help shape and mold you. That is where I needed a reset. My priorities were not lining up for God, they were lining up for ME. Yes, of course my family and Henry come first, but I needed to devote more time to others, since community is vital for growth. Yes, you heard that right. Without community, you become stale and dull. With community, you begin to grow and flourish. God spoke to me during my “dull” period of the newborn days and said Ashley, you need to get your butt out of the house and find that community, help others using your gifts and talents, and not hide behind the excuses of being tired or busy. So, I took the leap of faith and that is where my passion for fashion and loving/helping others was brought to life with Ruffled with Grace.

So, now that Ruffled with Grace is in full swing and I am following His plan, what now? I have seen Him continue to work, but I have learned a lot along the way. I have found out who my true friends, learned to not sweat the small stuff, communication is everything, not to put too much energy into the things we cannot control, and always try to see the positive in each situation or circumstance. Every person I interact with and connect with, was according to His purpose and I am to use these connections to continue to grow and love each and every one of them.

In attending the Pretty Peach Workshop this past weekend, I was reminded of that and couldn’t help but smile to see everything fall into place. I was reminded that their are amazing people out there who are absolutely killing it and following their dreams. It was nothing short of incredible to sit in a room of all different people, styles, interests, yet know we are all there growing and connecting to help better one another and the community we hope to form and grow. Every person in that room is using their gifts to share, love, help, and impact others. That alone is amazing. Yes, clothes are fun, pictures are pretty, traveling is a blast, and food is delicious, BUT, at the end of the day what is your overall goal?

So, I did some searching and I want to share my top 3 goals for Ruffled with Grace, I will call them the 3 C’s! {Community, Connection, + Creativity}

1. Community. At the end of the day, I want to form friendships with you, be there for you, help you grow, and be a bright light for you. Life is tough ya’ll, people are mean, and someone or something will always let you down, BUT, if we lean on each other and continue to push forward TOGETHER, I believe we can do some pretty amazing things.

2. Connection. I want to connect. I want to help cross-serve and learn more about others businesses and dreams/goals one may have. I am a firm believer, in supporting local businesses, big or small, and seeing everyone absolutely crush it. So, lets join forces and spread the word on some pretty amazing people + places.

3. Creativity. Yes, you all know I love all things dealing with fashion, baby, travel, + eats, so I am sure you are not surprised here. But, my goal is to help share my finds for both clothing, travel, or cuisine, so we can all enjoy. We can fell good about ourselves and enjoy this beautiful life. Why not tell others when you absolutely love something? Everything that I post about is 100% authentic to what I love and believe in. I promise to always be real and genuine to you all and look forward to continuing to share my finds in all areas 🙂

There you have it! My Three C’s to kick off another productive year with Ruffled with Grace. I cannot wait to continue to share and grow with each and everyone of you! To all my friends I have met throughout this experience so far, I cannot wait to continue to grow our friendship and create lots of fun memories ahead. To anyone thinking of taking that big leap and starting their own blog, I highly encourage you to attend the Pretty Peach Workshop, you will not regret it!

Speaking of sharing, lets kick it off with this girl boss who started Caroline Dawn. Caroline started the company in 2014 in Charleston, SC and has a passion for helping others find classic southern clothing with a little flair. Let me tell ya’ll, her clothes are breathe-taking and I am so happy to support this amazing line. The clothes are classic, yet have the perfect amount of southern sass to set them apart. The instant I tried my pieces on, I fell in love. She has an assortment of dresses, tops, and shorts in her Spring Line and will be releasing her Summer line soon. I styled the Beckett Bow Top paired with jeans and some fun, white statement earrings that are only $9, listed here. This top is so great, because you can dress it down with jeans, or can dress it up with fancy shorts or a skirt. Please keep in mind her sizing chart when ordering. For reference, I am wearing a size Medium. I hope ya’ll enjoy this amazing company as much as I do, and be on the lookout for more features of her clothing very soon 🙂
