Mother’s Day Blessings

Mother’s Day Blessings

Happy Mother’s Day sweet friends!

I hope everyone is having a blessed day with their sweet mamas. I know today and everyday, I am beyond thankful for my mom and all she does for me. I am fortunate enough to work alongside my mom, and I couldn’t think a better person to have as a role model now that I have entered into motherhood.

Today is a special day for me. It is my very first Mother’s Day. Well, technically, I count last year since Henry was baking in my belly ;)….but this year is extremely special. Ya’ll, being a mom is the biggest blessing God has ever given me. I wish I could put into words how much being a mom has challenged me, strengthened me, and most importantly changed me. Today I thought I would share how I have grown as a person since becoming a mom and my top 5 promises I made for Henry this Mother’s Day.

If you would have told me having a child would have impacted or changed me this much, I would have thought you were crazy. Yes, everyone says your lives change when you have kids, but I did not think to this extent. Becoming a mom has opened up my eyes to a love that is so pure and so strong. To think God had a plan and blessed me with this precious boy just fills my eyes with the happiest of tears. The moment I looked into Henry’s eyes, it was a new beginning. A new beginning and a new chapter of this precious life. It made me completely re-evaluate what is important in life and to take a step back and move forward in a direction that was best for him and our family. Being a mom is putting someone else’s happiness and well-being before your own. That may sound easy, but it is extremely hard. I have been challenged in ways I have never experienced before, but I would not change a single thing. I absolutely love my new normal and my new life, which I like to call a beautiful mess. I used to think that life had to be perfect- dressed to the tens, hair done…makeup done, going to nice places, but its not. Life is far from perfect and I absolutely love it that way. The new normal consists of running late (even though we plan to leave early), spit ups in public, getting peed on, continuous blow outs, buying a new outfit because we forgot to pack an extra, going to dinner for the early bird special, new adult bed times, trading in my car for what I call my “school bus” because we need ALL the room we can get, taking half a day to go to the grocery store….the list could go on, but you know what….I love this beautiful mess because it is MY mess. MY mess that God has blessed me to take care of, love unconditionally, and do everything in my power to grow this little boy into an honorable and kind young man.
